Group Health Insurance
Our United Health Care high-deductible health insurance plan is available to full-time employees after 60 days of employment. Coverage for a spouse, child or family is available for an additional cost.
Full-time employees are eligible for dental insurance, which covers regular cleanings and exams.
Health Savings Account
Full-time employees may establish a Health Savings Account (HSA) to set aside funds for qualifying medical expenses. Buchanan contributes $40 a month to each employee’s account, and all individual contributions are tax-free. Funds belong to the employee and remain his or hers regardless of employment.
Paid Time Off
Full-time employees accrue seven days of paid time off during the first partial year of employment and a total of 10 days off during the first full calendar year. In their second and third full calendar years with Buchanan, employees are granted 13 days of paid time off. They earn 15 days of paid time off in the fourth and fifth full calendar years of employment. After five full calendar years of employment, employees are granted 17 days off with pay per year. Employees may carry over as many as five paid days off each year.
Employees are granted these holidays off with pay: Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. Employees are also given a Floating Holiday—one additional day off with pay each year.
Full-time employees are entitled to take off two regularly scheduled workdays with pay after a death in the immediate family.
Full-time employees are paid their full salary for as many as 10 days per calendar year, minus the fee paid by the state.
Female employees who have completed three full years (36 months) of full-time employment will be granted six weeks of time off with 75 percent of their average wages.
Full-time employees receive a discounted membership to Spiece Fitness.
Buchanan may provide new employees assistance with relocation expenses. This is handled on a case-by-case basis.
