What is truckload freight shipping?
Full truckload freight shipping, often called FTL, uses a dedicated truck or trailer for one shipper's load and typically moves directly from pickup to delivery. Unlike less-than-truckload shipping, the trailer space is not shared with freight from multiple shippers. Truckload service is commonly used for larger shipments, freight that requires most or all of a trailer, time-sensitive loads, or cargo that benefits from fewer handling points during transit. The right equipment depends on the commodity, shipment dimensions, weight, loading method, and delivery requirements.
